Your doctor ordered something from us. Here's what happens next.
If your provider has prescribed a bone growth stimulator, a back brace, or surgical dressings, Peterson Medical Equipment may be the supplier filling that order. This page walks through how it works — in plain language.

What to expect
Your provider sends the order
Your doctor's office sends us a written order for the item, along with the documentation Medicare or your insurer requires. You usually don't have to do anything for this step.
We check coverage
We confirm the paperwork is complete and, when your plan requires it, request prior approval before the item ships. We'll let you or your provider's office know if anything is needed from you.
You receive the item
We arrange delivery or pickup and make sure you know how to use the device. For bone growth stimulators and braces, that includes fitting and instructions.
We keep the records
We hold onto the order and supporting documents securely — for ten years — in case your insurer or care team ever needs them.
The items we provide
We focus on spinal care. If your provider mentioned one of these, this is what it is:
Bone growth stimulator
A non-invasive device worn after spinal fusion surgery to support healing. You wear it for a set period each day; it's not implanted and it's not painful.
Learn moreBack brace (spinal orthosis)
A brace that supports your lower or mid back — from a flexible wrap to a more rigid shell, depending on what your provider ordered. We fit it to you.
Learn moreSurgical dressings
Specialized wound dressings — collagen, composite, and silicone composite — used to protect and support healing after surgery, in the sizes your care team specified.
Learn moreWhat it costs
Most of what we supply is covered by Medicare and many commercial plans when your provider's documentation meets the requirements — which is the part we help with. Depending on your plan, you may owe a deductible or coinsurance, just like any covered medical item.
Some items — certain back braces — need your insurer's approval before they can ship. We request that for you. If anything isn't covered, we'll tell you before you owe anything.
Questions we hear a lot
Do I have to use Peterson?
You have the right to choose your DME supplier. If your provider sent the order to us, we're glad to fill it — but the choice is yours.
How long does it take?
Once we have a complete order, items that don't need prior approval usually ship quickly. Items that need your insurer's approval take longer — we'll keep you posted.
Will the bone stimulator hurt?
No. It's worn on the outside of the body — nothing is implanted. We'll show you exactly how and when to use it.
Who do I call with a problem?
